The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for Sunday 17th March 2024 Is “Honour God’s Name”
Read: 2 Samuel 12:7–14 (NLT)
7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are that man! The LORD, the God of Israel, says: I anointed you king of Israel and saved you from the power of Saul.
8 I gave you your master’s house and his wives and the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. And if that had not been enough, I would have given you much, much more.
9 Why, then, have you despised the word of the LORD and done this horrible deed? For you have murdered Uriah the Hittite with the sword of the Ammonites and stolen his wife.
10 From this time on, your family will live by the sword because you have despised me by taking Uriah’s wife to be your own.
11 “This is what the LORD says: Because of what you have done, I will cause your own household to rebel against you. I will give your wives to another man before your very eyes, and he will go to bed with them in public view.
12 You did it secretly, but I will make this happen to you openly in the sight of all Israel.”
13 Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the LORD.” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the LORD has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.
14 Nevertheless, because you have shown utter contempt for the word of the LORD by doing this, your child will die.”

Set your affections on things above, not on things on earth.
A true representative of a family will do everything possible to protect the name of the family. As a child of God, you should put the name of God in good light, which is a hallmark of honour. Honouring God’s name goes beyond lip service; He expects you to prove that you honour Him through your actions. In 1 Samuel 17:1-51, David was angry that an uncircumcised Philistine could boldly insult the God of Israel, and nobody could stand up against him. He took up the challenge to defend God’s name, and God gave him victory.
If you truly hallow God’s name, under no circumstance would you do anything that would make people question your Christianity. You will also not crack or laugh at jokes that ridicule anything about God or the Bible. Many of you would fight if someone insulted your father or mother but feel comfortable when something offensive about the Bible is posted on your social media platform; you would even share it with others. You cannot claim to honour God and do such. Therefore, desist from such acts and honour your Heavenly Father’s name henceforth.
