Since its inception more than 37 years ago, Joyce’s annual Love Life Women’s Conference has brought hundreds of thousands of women from all over the world for a life-altering weekend with Joyce, her special guest speakers, and award-winning worship artists.
God has given Joyce the opportunity to share Christ and love people all over the world. Along with domestic and international speaking engagements, Joyce instructs thousands of additional people each year at conferences across the United States.

In 1976, Joyce Meyer was driving to work, fervently praying when she claimed to hear God calling her by name. Although she had been born-again when she was nine, her misery led her to grow more in her religion. She claims to have returned from a beauty appointment later that day “full of liquid love” and to have been “drunk with the Spirit of God” that evening at the neighborhood bowling alley.
She started teaching a morning Bible study in a nearby cafeteria and was involved with Fenton’s Life Christian Center, a Pentecostal church. Meyer quickly rose to the position of associate pastor at the congregation. She was well-liked as a Bible teacher, which helped the church grow to become one of the major charismatic congregations in the region. Additionally, she started a daily 15-minute radio broadcast on a station in St. Louis.
JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES PROFILE
Joyce Meyer formed her own ministry in 1985, first known as “Life in the Word,” and started broadcasting her radio program on six additional stations from Chicago to Kansas City. Her husband Dave recommended that they start a television ministry in 1993. Her program, currently known as Enjoying Everyday Life, which debuted on superstation WGN-TV in Chicago and Black Entertainment Television (BET), is still broadcast today.
Meyer received nearly $10 million from mainstream publisher Hachette Book Group in 2002 in exchange for the rights to her backlist of independently published works. Meyer’s programming was stopped in 2004 by the New Life Evangelistic Center’s Rev. Larry Rice, who also runs the St. Louis-based Christian television station KNLC.
Her husband Dave proposed that they launch a television ministry in 1993. Her teachings, which frequently went “beyond Scripture,” and the program’s first airing on Chicago’s superstation WGN-Black TV’s Entertainment were the reason for its cancellation.
Meyer was placed 17th on Time magazine’s list of the “25 Most Influential Evangelicals in America” in 2005.
The mission of Hand of Hope, a division of Joyce Meyer Ministries, is built on Joyce’s love for helping the hurting. Worldwide humanitarian initiatives like food programs, healthcare, clean water access, and disaster aid are offered through Hand of Hope. In addition, Joyce founded Project GRL, a movement born from her desire to help women and girls who are excluded by society or their environment realize their full potential. These initiatives assist them to find their genuine calling in Christ by guiding, healing and loving them.
