devotional

The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 7th January 2021 Is ”Move On; No Distractions!”

Read: Luke 2:41-50 (NKJV)

  1. His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
  2. And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.
  3. When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know [it;]
  4. but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among [their] relatives and acquaintances.
  5. So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.
  6. Now so it was [that] after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
  7. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.
  8. So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
  9. And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”
  10. But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 7TH JANUARY 2021.

When Jesus was eventually found in the temple interacting with teachers of the law, His parents were amazed, and Mary asked Him why He treated them the way He did. Jesus replied, “Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?

Here Jesus showed He had a clear understanding of His mission; He was therefore focused on it. How much are you focused on your work, business, profession and ministry? Give diligence to the service of God and pay proper attention to your work; don’t allow distractions please.

Jesus indicated that He would always be about His Fathers business.

Again Luke 4:16 says it was Jesus’ custom to go into the synagogue on the Sabbath. Where do you frequently find yourself: In eating and drinking joints, with jesting groups, party occasions, etc? This is wrong because you can’t edification in these places!

Again, from our story, we see Jesus taking the position of a student and those who heard Him were astonished at His understanding. From this, we must learn to listen attentively at church, bible study, etc., so that we may be equipped to make positive contribution if necessary. To be a teacher, you, must first be a student!

PRAYER: Heavenly Father please help me to be focused in life as live for You in holiness and righteousness.
