Cornerstone Church is a non-denominational evangelical congregation located in San Antonio, Texas, 18755 Stone Oak Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78258. The ministry has more than 22,000 active members. Cornerstone Church was founded by Pastor John Hagee.
Conerstone Church is saddled with the mandate to fulfill the commission that Christ gave; ”go into the world and make disciples of all people”. The purpose is to save the lost and to build and encourage those who are already believers.
Pastor John Hagee is the founder of Hagee Ministries, which broadcasts his sermons through media sites across the United States and other countries. Hagee Ministries has contributed more than $100 million to charitable initiatives in Israel over the years.
He is also the founder of Cornerstone Christian Schools, an exclusive institution offering college preparation instruction for students in grades K–12. CCS is dedicated to providing the next generation of leaders with a superior Bible-based education. He is also the creator of the Sanctuary of Hope, a housing complex that offers a secure environment for young, expecting moms who have chosen to have children.
HISTORY OF CORNERSTONE CHURCH, TEXAS.
Cornerstone Church was founded in the year 1987, Pastor Hagee mounted the pulpit for the first time at the age of 17 following a miraculous conversion of heart that only God could have brought about. He had been given a scholarship by Lyndon B. Johnson and was planning to enroll at West Point. Though he was done with church, God had a different plan for him.
In San Antonio, Texas, Pastor Hagee established the first church on Nacogdoches Road and served as the pastor there from 1966 to 1972. He was only able to secure $65,000 in bonds as a favor from a Houston-based security firm. If a church had no financial history, no bank would lend to it. But by God’s grace, tenacity conquered reluctance, and the church was eventually erected.
For four months they worshiped in a rented storefront on Loop 410, then for six months they moved to the chapel at Trinity University. An offering was taken each Sunday, and the funds were used to continue construction in the church. The second church was Trinity Church, located at Windcrest on Fourwinds Drive. From 1972 until 1975, Pastor Hagee served as its pastor. Two services were shortly required to handle the multitude as the church experienced an upsurge and couldn’t accommodate the multitude.
Cornerstone Church on Stone Oak Pkwy, is being led by Pastor Hagee and his son, Matthew Hagee. Pastor Hagee’s late father, Rev. Bythel Hagee, said a prayer of grace at the dedication of this church in 1987.
The church was reportedly too far away for anyone to visit, but on the morning of the dedication, the sanctuary was completely packed and crowd with almost 6,000 individuals. Pastor Hagee celebrated his 60th year of service on March 11 and handed the baton to his son, Matthew Hagee.
