LET’S TALK
Christianity isn’t about the impartation of another spirit to you; it’s actually a rebirth or recreation of your human spirit. When you were born again, your spirit was recreated by God. The human life with which you were born of your mother was supplanted with the life of Christ.
Some Christians are ruled by their senses more than they’re ruled by their recreated spirit. Your spirit came alive to God when you were born again, and has exactly the same nature as your heavenly Father’s; you’re one with Him now. It’s a new life altogether. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Yet, sometimes people wonder why they still do some of the wrong things they used to before they were born again. Really, those things don’t come from their recreated spirits, but from their “unrenewed” minds. Your mind has to be renewed with the Word of God. The Bible says, “do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2). So, it’s possible to be born again and live as though you’re not. This is the reason it’s so vital that you develop your human spirit by learning, meditating, and acting on the Word. That way, you’ll train your spirit to rule over your mind and your senses. It’s your responsibility.

Dear Father, thank you for giving me the Word of God, the material for cleansing and renewing my mind and making it conform to the image of your Son. I refuse to set my mind on the things of this world, having put on the new man, which is recreated in righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
