SCRIPTURE: Psalm 9:1-2.
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
THOUGHT FOR DAY: Affection for God is the foundation for every genuine act of praise..
The Scripture makes it clear that praise is one of the potent weapons of warfare in the life of a Christian (2 Chronicles 20:22). The battles of life and destiny are fought and won at the frequency of praise. This is because praise invites God into the battle situations of life and when God is invited into any battle, that battle is won. Praise makes God to turn your enemies against each other (2 Chronicles 20:22).
Now, if praise has this dimension of power, then, it is very important to understand what it is all about. This is because mentality affects reality. The more we understand the subject of praise, the more productive our praise to God.
What then is praise?
Praise is the expression of man’s affection and passion for his Maker.
Affection for God is the foundation for every genuine act of praise. Praise is therefore the expression of that affection or love you have for God. The expression of affection, passion and love for God culminates in praise. Praise happens when a person is in love with God and boldly expresses that love for God.
Psalms 9:1-2 says:
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
David seemed to be saying to God, “I want to express my heart to You O’ Lord. I want to tell You that I love You. I want to let You know that You are worthy to be praised”.
This is what it means to express your affection and passion for God.
Beloved, make up your mind to worship God by expressing your love, affection and passion for Him.
REMEMBER THIS: Affection for God is the foundation for every genuine act of praise.

Determine to express your affection and passion for God in praise and worship.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for a fresh passion for You. Help me to love and praise You unconditionally, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
