RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ MANUAL FOR 31ST MAY 2020 – THE MESSAGE

TOPIC: THE MESSAGE

OPENING PRAYER: Father, grant me the grace to abide by the true light. Send darkness far away from me.

MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 1:5

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 John 1:5-10 KJV

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

INTRODUCTION:

“This then is the message which we have heard of him”. The message Apostle Paul wrote about refers to the sum of the revelation which Jesus gave the disciples (1 John 1:1-5). The message is equally applicable to all mankind. It is also the principle on which the Christian faith depends. Jesus alone came to declare and defend the fullness of the truth which flows from the message with regards to sin and it’s consequences, the way of reconciliation, the duty of man and the rule by which men ought to live. In this study, we shall be considering the substances of the message as well as the conditions and realities of true fellowship.

TEXT REVIEW: 1 John 1:5-10
Apostle John’s core message to the whole world is that “God is the light and in Him is no darkness at all”. 1 John 1:5

ii. God is the source of light Himself
iii. Christ is the true manifestation of God’s light to men. John 8:12
iv. The phrase, “God is Light” must be understood as “God is Love”, “God is Good”, “God is a Spirit” etc. 1 John 4:8, Nahum 1:7, John 4:24.

B. That, there is no darkness in God at all. 1 John 1:5d.
