TOPIC: How To Avoid The Devil

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please grant me grace to be sensitive to demonic yielding.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Leaders should remind members why godly wisdom is important in the Christian race.

MEMORY VERSE: James 4:7 (KJV)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

BIBLE TEXT: James 4:6-8 (KJV)

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Devil is depicted by sin and falsehood, and he is representing anything that is against God. As much as possible, he must be avoided. To avoid the devil, therefore, one needs to avoid anything that represents him. To this however, as a child of God, you must be ardently obedient to God’s words and commandments.

LEADER’S DIARY.

A. LESSON AIM: To have understanding why believers should be sensitive to devil’s tricks in this generation.

B. TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:
i. always resist devil’s promptings.
ii. know that some situations need you to flee when required to avoid being doomed.

C. TEXT REVIEW: JAMES 4:6-8

i. Almighty God resists the proud people but gives grace to the humble.
ii. When you draw close to God in humility, He also draws closer to you.
iii. You need to submit yourself to God before gaining His attention

D. TEACHING METHOD: The leader should use question and answer method.

E. TIME MANAGEMENT: Share the teaching time, use suggested time schedule.

LESSON OUTLINES ONE: SUBMIT TO GOD AND RESIST THE DEVIL

In order to keep the devil at bay, the following are important.

Decide to be for God by being genuinely saved and totally committed to Jesus Christ Acts 3:19.
Come out of the world, where the devil reign supreme 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.
Study and memorize the word of God, you will need it to avoid the devil 2 Timothy 2:15, Colossians 3:16.
Put on the whole armour of God. Ephesians 6:10-18, Acts 1:8.
Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: FLEE FROM ALL APPEARANCE OF EVIL

We must follow the following if we are to flee from the devil.

Be contented with what God gives you 1 Timothy 6:6-8
Identify his resemblance and avoid them.
Do not be deceived by the evil prosperity of the wicked, they will soon come to destruction Psalm 73:1-12, Jeremiah 17:11.
Cut off relationships with all ungodly friends and associates 2 Corinthians 6:16-18.
ACTIVITY: Give examples of those that died by yielding to satan’s wiles.

CONCLUSION: The devil will come to children of God without invitation, so we must always at alert of his pranks by engaging him with the word. “It is written” at any time 1 Peter 5:8, but our victory is certain if we abide in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, I receive power over every wile of the devil in Jesus Name
Father, destroy every work of the devil in my life in the Mighty Name of Jesus
In the name of Jesus, I resist the devil and his agents in my life and family
Father, uproot the works of the devil in RCCG in Jesus Name
Pray for Daddy and Mummy G.O. and their family.

GOLDEN DIET FOR THE WEEK

MONDAY: Hebrews 1:9 by loving righteousness you are resisting the devil.

TUESDAY: 1 John 5:4, if you are truly of God then you have overcome the devil.

WEDNESDAY: Hebrews 12:2, focus on Jesus.

THURSDAY: Job 1:8, integrity/uprightness is a powerful tool against evil.

FRIDAY: A right standing with God makes you outstanding.

SATURDAY: Romans 6:8-11

SUNDAY: 2 Corinthians 12:9, thank God because His grace is sufficient.

SUGGESTED TIME SCHEDULE

  • 10 minutes for Opening Prayer, Praise and Worship
  • 10 minutes for Testimonies
  • 15 minutes for Bible Discussion
  • 15 minutes for General Prayers
  • 10 minutes for Questions & Answers
  • 5 minutes for Welcoming New Members
  • 10 minutes for Announcements, Offering, House Fellowship Anthem & Closing Prayers.
  • Total – 60 Minutes (1 Hour)
