OUR DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL FOR 26TH MAY 2021.
I love the words of Thomas Buxton, “Laziness grows on people, it begins in cobwebs and ends in iron chains. The more one has to do, the more he is able to accomplish.” THE LORD HAS BEEN EMPHASIZING AGAINST PROCRASTINATION and LAZINESS in this edition. This is be- cause these 2 bullets are agents of hell. One of the biggest reasons for laziness are excuses. It’s easy to cook up excuses why something cannot be done. It’s easy to cook up excuses why something can be done “tomorrow.” But, this is the painful thing I’ve found out: Tomorrow Is A Day That Never Comes For The Lazy Man.
Tomorrow Will Always Hang In The Future For That Lazy Man. And That’s Why He Never Reaches His Destination. He Has Been Chained Up By Laziness. If you’re like that, today is your day of deliverance. Today is the day to repent and BREAK OFF THAT DEMONIC CHAIN that stops you from studying THE WORD (the Bible); finishing your BIBLE this year, praying without ceasing, going early to church, going the extra mile or reading more concerning your career/business, etc.
Laziness is a habit, and to break it, you have to discipline yourself to cultivate TWO NEW HABITS called DILIGENCE and DISCIPLINE. Learn to say NO and keep on saying NO. Mortimer Caplan quipped, “Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.” In Genesis 2, God FINISHED the creation of the heavens and earth and then He rested. People who make a habit of resting before they finish never finish important tasks in due time. Stick to that one task (e.g, OPERATION FINISHING- YOUR-BIBLE-IN-2021) until you finish. Don’t get chained up with the cobwebs of distraction, boredom and tiredness. Be a finisher and you will be celebrated by heaven and earth!
