Yesterday, we established the fact that as a believer, you are called to live as an ambassador for Christ. An ambassador is a reliable representative. Today, we would examine the issue of how you can become Christ’s ambassador, the Christian concept of who an ambassador is and how you can successfully fill the role. The following are important things you need to know about ambassadors of Christ:

First, an ambassador does not appoint himself. A Christian is appointed by the Lord. Second, an ambassador does not support himself. God provides all of his needs. Philippians 4:19 says, “My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Also, an ambassador does not belong to the country to which he is sent. A Christian is not a citizen of this world, but of heaven. In addition, an ambassador does not enter a country for his personal interest. He is a representative of the country he represents.

Believers, as ambassadors, represents the Lord Jesus Christ. More so, an ambassador has instruction in written form. The Word of God is the policy statement for believers. Believers have mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). Besides, when an ambassador is recalled, it is because hostilities are imminent. When the Church is recalled (the Rapture), hostility begins in the Tribulation.

Another feature of Christ’s ambassador is that an ambassador does not take an insult as personal. It is his country which is being insulted. God takes care of His reputation, His name, and His Word. We are not here to defend the Word but to preach it. The Holy Spirit takes care of the results. Added to the foregoing is the fact that to be an ambassador is the highest possible calling. Christians are called to the highest calling in Christ. Lastly, being Christ’s ambassador is highly rewarding –ambassadors are remunerated. Perspective is service; prospect is reward. We serve Christ; and we are rewarded in heaven.

Beloved, when you do what is good and right in difficult situations, you are being an ambassador for Christ. The truth is that you are an example to others, no matter how you live. The question is whether you are a good example or a bad example. When you live a life that makes you a good example of Christ, you are His ambassador. Your life is at all times representing someone. God or satan. Christ’s ambassadors are His representatives. An ambassador imitates Christ by representing Him and communicating His desires and will while here on earth. Apostle Paul encouraged us (believers) to imitate him as he imitated Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). In Ephesians 5:1, he also enjoined us to be imitators of God.

To live as an ambassador of Christ may not be achievable in your own strength and power. However, in 2 Timothy 1:7, the Bible affirms that God’s power is available to believers to live as ambassadors of Christ in their sojourn on earth, and communicate the gospel of a transformed life by way of example and living tangible proof. The Holy Spirit can come into the heart of every believer and empower them to live a life worthy of their heavenly calling, a transformed life of goodness and love. The Lord will help you to be His worthy ambassador to the end, in Jesus’ name.

1 O Lord, make me Your worthy ambassador, in the name of Jesus.

2 Holy Spirit, decorate my life with the virtues of a worthy ambassador of Christ, in the name of Jesus.

3 O Lord, help me to imitate You and win others to You, in the name of Jesus.

4 Lord Jesus, let others see You in me, in the name of Jesus.

5 Holy Spirit, make me a good example for others to imitate and follow, in the name of Jesus.

6 Father, let my life point others to Christ and His cross, in the name of Jesus.

7 O Lord, make me an apostle of love and peace, in the name of Jesus.
