MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY

We are devoting today’s devotional study to the most important institution on earth. Of all social institutions, the family comes after the church. The family is the life-wire and in fact, the foundation of a nation and the church. When the home is under attack, the effect is visible everywhere.

A robber was going to be executed and he asked for his mother. She came forward and was crying and lamenting. He asked her to come close and she thought he wanted to whisper into her ears, but he got hold of the ear turned to him with his teeth and almost tore it off; he held on to it until the soldiers came to the mother’s rescue. He said that she was there, when, as a little boy, he was stealing little things and she did not scold him, until he grew up and graduated into armed robbery. He was eventually executed.

What is particularly noteworthy is that the boy’s father was a smuggler who, in an attempt to escape from Naval patrols on the lagoon, fell off a boat and got drowned. While he died a smuggler, his son died a robber. Stealing was their family disease and it destroyed them. The institution of the family emanated from God Himself. It was His idea. It was the first human social institution ever formed and the first human institution in the Bible.

It came before human governments, societies and the church. It is the foundation of everything. That is why the family is referred to as a church within a church, a republic within a republic, a world within a world. The building block of civilization; it is the foundation of the state and the church. If things go wrong with the family, its effects are felt in the life of each member of that family.

The effects eventually extend to the society and the finally to the nation. This is why the Christian household or the family requires attention, concentration and serious efforts. Beloved, you must give yourself no rest, until your family is patterned after the divine blue print, as detanled in today’s devotional passages and in other Bible passages.

Motivational Quote: The doors of Heaven are either closed or open. You cannot enjoy your existence on earth with the problem of a closed heaven.

Prophetic Word: You shall not die but live to declare the works of God.
