MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 18TH JULY 2021

Giving is the key to God’s prosperity. If you want God to bless you, then give. God is the Ultimate Giver. He gave us first by giving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. God’s love is not static or self-centered. It reaches out and draws others in. God set the pattern of true love. When you love someone clearly, you will be willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrifice. God paid dearly with the life of His Son, which is the highest price or gift He could give.

Sacrificial giving invokes blessings; it draws you closer to God. It makes God to act on your behalf; it takes you out of ordinary to extraordinary status or position. Abraham gave and God blessed him. He received abundant blessings because he obeyed God. Abraham’s blessings overflowed to his all his descendants, and that includes you. Today you can sing “Abraham’s blessings are mine…”. This is as a result of his sacrificial giving (Gen. 22:12).

The widow of Zarephath gave all and she was blessed; the Shunnamite woman gave. Not only did she receive the gift of a son, but she also received the miracle of restoration to life for her son. David decided to give offering to God with something that will cost him something. As a result of this, the Lord was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel (2 Sam. 24:24-25). In Luke 21:1-4, the widow gave all she had and caught the attention of Jesus Christ.

Jesus admired her generous and sacrificial giving. The disciples forsook all and followed Jesus and got the promise of eternal life with Him (Lk.5:11; Mk. 1:18). Jesus assured the disciples that anyone who gives up something valuable for His sake will be repaid a hundred times in this life (Mk. 10:29-30). When you give, don’t give as if you are giving to a beggar. Give God your best and He will give you back hundred fold. You can never out-give God and you cannot make Him a debtor.

Remember, when you give, you receive. Givers never lack. The first key to receiving from God is to seek His kingdom and its righteousness; then your gifts will be acceptable and in return every other thing will be added unto you.

PRAYER POINTS:
