MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 10TH SEPTEMBER 2022

There are many lessons to learn from Ruth. As a foreigner, she might have considered Naomi’s counsel as odd when she advised her on what to do with Boaz, but she knew Naomi was kind, trustworthy and filled with moral integrity.

Beloved, when you see somebody whose counsel is in line with the word of God, the experience and knowledge of such a person can be useful to you. Ruth would have amounted to nothing if she did not heed her mother-in-law’s advice.

Secondly, do not allow your past to hold you back. Ruth had so many reasons to withdraw into her shell and live in obscurity but she didn’t. You must strive to fulfil the purpose of God for your life regardless of your past experiences or what you are passing through. God is faithful and He will keep His word concerning your life.

Thirdly, have faith in the God of Israel like Ruth. Although she had never been to the land of Israel before, she had faith in the God of Israel and declared: “Thy God shall be my God.” What a great faith (Heb. 11:1).

Furthermore, she was a woman of noble character. She showed unreserved respect and honour to her mother-in-law. She worked hard in the field to provide food for both of them. She did not behave herself unseemly before the young men in the city and God honoured her. She became the great grandmother of Jesus Christ.

Also, note that against all odds, redemption is always possible. Ruth believed that God will provide and as a result of her faith, God did a miraculous work of redemption in her life. Beloved, your present circumstances notwithstanding, God has a plan for you.

Above all, have a good legacy like Ruth who through faith, hope and good character eventually became the great grandmother of Jesus Christ. There is no limit to what God can do through you if you allow Him by committing your all to Him. There is hope in the most devastating times in your life and Jesus Christ is that hope. Your past is not your final destination only if you put your trust in God. Move forward in faith to possess your possession, in the name of Jesus.
