Today’s Scripture: Luke 17:1 (NKJV)
Then He said to the disciples, ‘It is impossible that no offences should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!
GOODNEWS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY 26TH SEPTEMBER 2022.
This subject of ‘offence’ or being ‘offended’ is very delicate and deep-rooted within the body of Christ. It cannot be exhausted in a few lines or paragraphs as it goes beyond many boundaries. Church leaders are offended or get offended; church members get tired of the church because they get offended by a fellow brother or sister in the Lord. At times it becomes complicated to tell a brother or sister the sincere truth because they get offended easily even for their own good. A true believer must have a teachable spirit to accept correction and take honest rebuke to better their lives.
If you decide never to change, ‘woe’ will come to you. An offence is like a trap when you fall into it, you will be entrapped. Never be offended over little things or trivial matters, it will only eat up your soul with bitterness. Let that offence bounce back and choose to be joyful in the face of adversities. In Proverbs 18:19, we read ‘A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city. And contentions are like the bars of a castle’ Do not be the one to fulfil this scripture! Learn to forgive when offended and don’t be the one through whom an offence is generated!
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I cannot be easily offended as a child of God. My heart is steadfast on the Lord and I will not be moved by offences regardless of their intensity. I will always stand my ground in Christ and proclaim victory over every offence in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
