Today’s Scripture: John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
GOODNEWS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2022.
In the well-known hymn, Amazing Grace, there is a line that says, “I once was lost, but now I’m found.” As endearing as that song is to many, and as moved as you might be by the words, it does not reflect the reality of the Christian. The Bible says any man in Christ is a new creature. You are the fruit of salvation, a product of Jesus’ finished work. You are a brand new species of being that never existed before your salvation.
You were never lost. Imagine singing those lyrics thinking you are worshipping God when in fact, you are declaring something that opposes everything He has done for you and who He says you are.
God says if I were hungry, I would not tell you (Psalm 50:12). He does not need you to provide for Him. But our verse for today is telling us that there is something He deeply desires, and that is worship that is in spirit and truth.
In spirit means you are in spiritual alignment when you worship. And in truth means you understand what you are saying.
As a child of God born of His Spirit, Christ the Living Word dwells inside you and you inside Him. Christ is your entire environment. That means you are capable of hearing as He hears, and you have the ability to discern what pleases Him. That hearing ability is sharpened as you increase in your knowledge of the Word. As you sing or hear a song, hear it the way God hears it. Make sure it resonates with the Word that is in you. As you do that and offer that expression of worship to Him, you become the answer to the desire of His heart.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I am one with Christ. He sees through my eyes, touches with my hands. What I hear, Jesus is hearing. When I walk, Jesus is walking. When I talk, Jesus is talking. I am the expression of His Word.
