The Topic of From His Heart 6th October 2021 is “What Can the Righteous Do?”

Today’s Scripture by Jeff Schreve: Psalm 11:3-4

DR JEFF SCHREVE DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE FOR TODAY 9TH OCTOBER 2021.

I am always fascinated by the great ship named RMS Titanic. It was the largest, most advanced and impressive ocean liner of its day. Although it was dubbed the unsinkable ship, Titanic sank just a few days into her maiden voyage.

As you may recall, the ship was foolishly speeding through the iceberg infested waters of the Atlantic Ocean, secretly trying to set a record to New York. At 11:40 p.m. on April 14, 1912, Titanic hit an iceberg. Because of the massive size of the ship, the passengers aboard did not realize what had occurred. They went on enjoying their cruise as if nothing had happened … but something extremely significant had happened, and there was no reversing it.

JOYCE MEYER DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR 9TH OCTOBER 2021

FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2015

This day will no doubt live in infamy. By a 5-4 decision, the SCOTUS voted to legalize gay marriage in all 50 states. While gay marriage and homosexual activities are certainly not new to America, the sanctioning and national endorsement of such—against the will of the people–is certainly new. I believe it is an iceberg moment for our nation. Without a doubt, this decision will set in motion the sinking of our nation.

How can I say that? I say that because God’s Word teaches that. “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly thereafter …” (2 Peter 2:4-6).

Make no mistake. God designed gender. There are two and only two: male and female. Furthermore, God designed and defined marriage: one man to one woman. When a once God fearing nation rejects the perfect Creator’s design and definition in favor of their own, that nation will experience the unpleasant consequences of such a brazen action. Sodom and Gomorrah tried it. Jude says they “went after strange flesh.” In response, God rained down fire and brimstone on those wicked cities.

OUR DAILY BREAD DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2021

Their smoking ruins serve as an example to any who would follow in their footsteps. Tragically, we are too blind and arrogant to believe it.

WHAT TO DO?

The foundations have been dealt a serious blow. So what can the righteous do? Several things:

1. We can search our own hearts and get right with God. We can’t shine for Jesus if we are living with private, secret sin. Walk in the light and keep your sins confessed to the Savior.

2. We can pray. God responds when His people pray from a repentant heart. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is aimed at God’s people. When we get right and pray, God begins to work a miraculous work of forgiveness and healing.

3. We can speak the truth in love and hold fast to the unchanging Word of God. No matter how unpopular it gets to be a Bible-believing Christian, there is no other option if we want to please and honor the Savior who hung naked on a cross for us. We are called to be faithful … even if that faithfulness costs us our livelihood or our very life. Jesus said, “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Rev. 2:10).

4. Fear not. The ocean liner called America may be going down, but God has promised to protect and deliver His people. In that promise, we rejoice!
