In a letter written to the Thessalonian believers around AD 51, Paul indicated that the mystery of lawlessness – the spirit of the antichrist – was already at work in their midst.
Paul also indicated that there was an opposite and opposing force Who was restraining that antichrist spirit and would continue to do so until He was taken out of the way. The Holy Spirit is the one Who hinders the work of Satan.
As believers in Christ, that same dynamite power – the infilling of the Holy Spirit – dwells in us! He convinces us of God’s truth and righteousness. He convicts us of sin. He comforts us in a world that is unkind and unaccepting.
He enables us to be salt and light in this world. He fills us with holy boldness and empowers us to be His witnesses. He speaks God’s Word through us. He appoints us to ministry and gives us gifts to fulfill our calling.
