The Topic of Deeper Life Daily Manna Devotional for 27th January 2022 Is “Who Are You Travelling With? “

TEXT: Exodus 4:18-26 (KJV)

18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.

19 And the Lord said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.

20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

21 And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.

22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him.

25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.

KEY VERSE: “And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.” – (Exodus 4:20)

DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY

Life is a journey fraught with many twists and turns. Disasters and dangers lurk along the way, just like success and victory. The experiences encountered in life are often the outcome of the company you keep as you go on this journey. Regrettably, many people go through life either alone or in the wrong company. How different they are from Moses.

God had commanded Moses to return to Egypt to convince Pharaoh to set Israel free and allow them leave his nation. On his part, Moses, who had settled into a regular life of a family man, was now being uprooted from his comfort zone and sent on an arduous duty. With the backing of his father-in-law, Jethro, Moses took his wife and sons along.

God warned him that it would not be an easy task convincing Pharaoh to free the Israelites. He was, however, to remain consistent with his message.

As he pondered over this heavy assignment on his way back to Egypt, he encountered another serious challenge. God threatened to kill him and his son whom he had not circumcised. Until his wife reluctantly and with much complaints obeyed and circumcised their son, the journey was almost aborted.

You need God to stabilise your heart and reassure you as you go through life. You need His presence and power with you. With Him on your side, you will not fear what man can do to you. Allow His word to guide you, believe His promises that cannot fail, obey His every command and look unto Jesus constantly. That way, you can neither fail nor fall.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Walking with God makes the challenges of life easier to deal with.
