The Topic of Teenagers Open Heavens for 2nd August 2022 Is “COMPLACENCY IS DANGEROUS”

Read: MATTHEW 25:14-30

14. For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25. And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27. Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Memorise: Romans 12:11

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord

It’s not okay to be satisfied with your present achievement as a worker in the house of God because there are more grounds to conquer. Being satisfied usually brings complacency – a state of feeling self-satisfied, specially when one is not aware of upcoming trouble.

The man who was given a talent in today’s Bible reading was complacent about his masters investment in him. He became satisfied with burying the talent, not knowing what his masters reaction would be at His return. As a result, the consequence of his action was total banishment into eternal damnation.

Dear child, no matter your achievement, don’t rest on your oars. Complacency kills. Do you want to further your education, increase your spiritual depth or earn more financially? Don’t sit passively and watch life go by. Rise to the task and pursue your dreams with more vigour.

 PRAYER POINT

That good thing you want to do, do it quickly!

 HYMN

STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD

1. Standing on the promises
of Christ, our King,
Thro’ eternal ages let
His praises ring;
Glory in the highest,
I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

CHORUS
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God, my Saviour;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2. Standing on the promises
that cannot fail.
When the howling storms of
doubt and fear assail,
By the living word of God
I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

3. Standing on the promises
I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing
in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty
where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

4. Standing on the promises
of Christ, the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally
by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with
the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
