ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 18TH JUNE 2024.

History is to a people what memory is to an individual. It is a good thing to have the knowledge of the past so that the future could be given a proper shape. Our passage today speaks of the history of man right from Adam to Noah. It shows how man had grown in leaps and bounds over several centuries, starting with the first man. We are made to see how long people lived in the earlier part of man’s existence. More importantly, it is clear that man did not develop from apes as postulated by Charles Darwin.

Knowing our family history is very important. On many occasions, many people, especially in Africa, are not able to correctly trace their lineage, while some hold distorted views of their descent. Every individual Christian should appreciate where he or she came from. Some children do not know their grandparents physically because they have not been taken home. It is painful to realise that some Christians deny their uneducated parents just because they are now civilised. It shall not be so with you. God brought you forth through that family and lineage for a purpose. Appreciate your family and the history of your lineage today!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me grace to appreciate my family background and history. Amen.
