Empty Out The Negativity – Day 11

No matter how good a seed is, its growth is dependent on having good soil.

Jesus told a parable about a man who sowed seed on good ground, and it flourished, producing a great crop. But some of the seed fell on rocky ground, and it didn’t produce much. Other seed fell among the weeds and thorns, which kept the seed from growing. All the seed was the same quality; what made the difference was the soil.

The thorns represent things such as friends who keep causing you to compromise, and the weeds are the coworkers who sit around and gossip and talk about how bad life is. The rocks are the relatives who tell you why you’ll never break that addiction and how you’ll never be successful. If you hang around negative people, they’re choking out your seed.

Those friends you’re tempted to party with may be fun and popular, but what you can’t see is that they’re weeds. They’re keeping you from flourishing. The environment into which you put yourself is extremely important. No matter how good a seed is, its growth is dependent on having good soil.
You need to be selective with whom you give your time, energy, and attention. Start today.
