Who Is Rick Warren?
Rick Warren was born on the 28th of January 1954. He is the founder and senior pastor of Saddleback Church, a Lake Forest, California-based evangelical megachurch connected to the Southern Baptist Convention.
Dr. Warren is also a global strategist who offers guidance on leadership development, poverty, health, education, and the role of faith in culture to decision-makers in the public, commercial, and religious sectors. The African Union, the Council on Foreign Relations, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, TIME’s Global Health Summit, the United Nations, the World Economic Forum in Davos, and countless other congresses throughout the world have all invited him to speak.
He was listed in TIME magazine’s “15 World Leaders Who Mattered Most in 2004” and “100 Most Influential People in the World” lists, respectively. Additionally, he was named one of “America’s 25 Best Leaders” by U.S. News & World Report in 2005.
Warren, the son of Jimmy and Dot Warren, was born in San Jose, California. His mother worked as a high school librarian, while his father was a Baptist minister. He grew up in Ukiah, California, and attended Ukiah High School, where he created the first Christian club on the campus, before graduating in 1972.
Warren earned a Bachelor of Arts from California Baptist University in Riverside, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dr. Warren has given theological lectures at several seminaries, universities, the Evangelical Theological Society, the University of Judaism, Oxford, and Cambridge. His six books, which have been translated into more than 50 different languages, are renowned for their clear explanations of theology. With more than 50 million copies sold across all platforms, his most recent book, The Purpose Driven Life, has sold 25 million copies and is one of the best-selling nonfiction books in publishing history.
