Who is W.F Kumuyi?
Willaim Folorunsho Kumuyi is the founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry and Chancellor of Anchor University. He was born into an Anglican family in 1941, a strict Christian home where he would wake up in the morning, read the Bible, sing songs, and attend church on a regular basis. According to him his interest in religion faded when he entered secondary school because of the atheism his principal instilled in him.
Along the line, he changed his mind and began visiting several churches in the area. Eventually, in 1963, a Gospel church’s singers and preachers were granted permission to perform at the school, On April 5th, 1964, he received the Gospel message and became a born-again Christian, Kumui grew more passionate for the things of God as he became active with scripture union, reading a lot of books by John Wesley, Charles Finney, Spurgeon, and other authors.
W.F. Kumuyi founded a Bible study club with 15 students in 1973 while working as a math lecturer at The University of Lagos. The students came to him asking for training in the Scriptures. That little group had multiplied to several thousand by the early 1980s, at that point, Deeper Life Bible Church was formally founded.
As the Deeper Christian Life Ministry grew, it became clear that most people enjoy the status symbols that followers willingly accept. However, he addresses his supporters as coworkers and considers them his brothers and sisters.
He graduated with honors in mathematics from the University of Ibadan and returned to the Mayflower School to begin teaching. After five years, he proceeded to the University of Lagos to earn a postgraduate certificate in education. In 1973, he founded a small Deeper Life Bible Study group there while working as a lecturer.
W.F Kumuyi Esther Kumuyi after he lost his wife in 2009, during the Deeper Life Easter Retreat. The death of his first wife really affected him but by the grace of God, he moved on and married Adenike Esther in 2010.
Esther Kumuyi was the church Administration in London, she has never been married before the General Superintendent tied the knot with her in London, currently, she is the C0-pastor of the Deeper Life Ministry.

Speaking with numerous church members who described how Christ had miraculously answered their prayer and changed lives in response to the Gospel being preached. In the words of Pastor Kumuyi, “God has deliberately and sensibly used miracles to make all men come to Him in the expansion of Deeper Life Bible Church (John 3:26). The Ministry stands on holiness and practical Christianity.
Its membership has increased from 50,000 in 1988 to 120,000 now, and still counting, making it the third-largest Christian church in the world. According to Dr. Johan Combrinck, the Deeper Life Bible Church has built 500 churches in Lagos, 5,000 throughout the rest of Nigeria (with an independent estimate of more than 800,000 members in Nigeria alone), and 3,000 elsewhere in addition to having a weekly attendance of 120,000.
