Memorise: Job 31:1

I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

Bible Reading: Genesis 3:1-7

1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Bible Reading In One Year: Psalms 93-95; Romans 11:22-36

TEENS OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL 12TH AUGUST 2020.

The eyes are the windows of the body through which one can see and know the things that are happening in one’s environment. It is therefore important to watch what you see.

In today’s Bible reading, the serpent didn’t get Eve to eat the forbidden fruit at first until the moment Eve took a second look at the fruit. It was then that she desired to have a taste of it. If she hadn’t taken a second look, she probably wouldn’t have found it good enough to be eaten.

Beyond the physical eye is the spiritual eye. The spiritual eye is the gate that leads to a fellow’s mind. You should not only mind what you see with your physical eyes, but also control the ‘eye gate’. The Bible says that we should guard our hearts diligently for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). The best way to guard your heart is to avoid seeing things such as pornographic movies or pictures that can make you sin against God. It is better to fill your heart with the Word of God so you do no commit sin (Psalm 119:12).

Action Point:

Make a covenant today never to set your eyes on anything that can lute you into sin

Hymn: 7

1.Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to thee
Take my moment and days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2.Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee

3.Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from thee.

4.Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.

5.Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer be mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,

6.Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At They feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee
