THE TOPIC OF TEENAGERS OPEN HEAVENS FOR 24TH MAY 2020 IS “WHAT SAVOUR?.”

Memorise: Acts 10:4

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

READ: Revelation 8:3-4

3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

TEENS OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY

One of the most potent but highly neglected weapon available to every child of God is prayer. It can be likened to quite a number of things. In today’s passage, prayer is likened to an aroma; a sweet smell that is offered to God. The prayers of those who are in right standing with God can be likened to an incense that ushers them into His presence (James 5:16). The more you find time to pray, the more your shame and stink will give way to pleasantness.

John 16:24 says: you should keep on asking until your joy is full. There is a popular Yoruba saying that goes thus; “bad situations need prayer, even good situations too need prayers.” Are there things in your life that you don’t like? Pray them away. Are there things in your life that bring you joy? Pray for and about them. Is there a teacher whose teaching style you don’t like? Pray about it. The God we serve is a prayer answering God, He hears and answers us at all times. You should make best use of this fact as often as you can. Talk to God as many times as possible.

Key Point: Praying is pouring out your heart to God. How often do you do it?

Bible In One Year: 1 Chronicles 11-13; John 9:1-23

Hymn 14:

1.Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Chorus:
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling;
Do not pass me by.

2.Let me, at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

3.Trusting only in Thy merit
Would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.

4.Thou, the spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me.
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heaven but Thee.
