MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TUESDAY 20TH AUGUST 2019 – RAISING GODLY CHILDREN

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL  FOR TODAY

Mountain Top Life daily  devotional by Pastor D.K Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire Ministry for today is here. Digest the word of the lord and pray believing

TOPIC OF MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TUESDAY 20TH AUGUST IS “RAISING GODLY CHILDREN”

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 105-106; 1 Corinthians 3

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Timothy 3:2-5

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

To train someone means to teach, develop or to prepare the person for a particular job, assignment or activity. Training involves the trainer and the trainee; the trainer is somebody who trains while the trainee is somebody being trained. The trainer or teacher is supposed to be an expert in whatever he or she is training the trainee.

According to today’s memory verse, parents are admonished to train their children in the way they should go, that is, the way of the Lord. But it is unfortunate that parents are rearing their children today, instead of training them. Animals are reared while children are supposed to be trained. In many homes, a father who is supposed to train his three-year-old son to read and study the Bible does not even study his, so he has no moral justification to teach the child.

The case of Eli is a study for admonition and for our reflection. Eli succeeds in ministry but failed in the area of training up his children.

Many parents even go to church without taking their children along with them. Many allow their children to attend churches different from theirs. This has led to the confusion and moral degradation among the youths of today who lack godly parents models to look up to.

As a Christian parent, you should teach and train your child to wake up by himself to pray before family devotion, you would not have problem with such a child during family devotion or when he or she finally leaves home for college. And such a child would not depart from the training when he or she has grown up.

Training our children is a commandment from the Lord and every parent is responsible for the training of his/her children, and will be held accountable by God. Train your children to follow and obey God’s laws and commandments; train them to memorise the Word of God; train them on house chores like washing the plates without the assistance of the maid; train them to fold the cloth why you iron them, train them to wash their socks while you wash the uniform; train them to hold personal vigil while you are holding yours; train them to go with you for morning evangelism and ask them to do the preaching after sometime.

When you do this, you will make the path of life known to them. The Lord will bless your children and make them great; He will be able to trust you with life’s secrets, and will be confident to say of you, like he said of Abraham “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD” (Genesis 18:19).

Would you be spoken of by the Lord as someone who knows how to rule his own house?

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
THE BEST WAY YOU CAN TEACH A CHILD IS TO LIVE AN EXEMPLARY LIFE.

PROPHETIC WORD:
You and your children will be for signs and wonders.

3 My children shall not be a tool in the hand of the ememy, in the name of Jesus.
