A covenant is an accepted decision to do, or to refrain from doing certain things between two or more parties. It can be described as an agreement between two or more people to establish a relationship in which promises, responsibilities and punishment for breaking the covenant are made.

 

A covenant is legally binding and irreversible. It is the final irrevocable commitment to a joint decision. It is like a chain binding two people together. A covenant makes two or more persons to have one thing in common that keep them together.

 

The term “covenant” is translated from the Hebrew word beryth. It is used in the Bible as that which binds two or more people together. It involves a verbalised statement or commitment, but it is more than that. It is a relationship which if violated, may lead to dire consequences which include death.

 

Covenant begins with God Himself. He is a God of covenant and He is always watching over his covenant to perform it. God made a covenant with Noah, Abraham and David to have an unbroken or everlasting covenant with them as a result of their service to Him.

God’s final commitment to do anything with anyone is always established in or with a covenant. His covenant with believers, called the New Covenant, is made through the blood of the Lamb, the Lord Jesus. This covenant is eternal and available for anyone to enjoy (John 3:16).

 

However, the enemy has corrupted the original intentions of divine covenants. The devil has created a many counterfeit covenants to deceitfully trap and to reap the souls of men. This could be in form of conscious evil covenant or unconscious evil covenant. The devil does this in order to achieve his threefold bid to kill, to steal and to destroy.

 

As a result of this, children of God must be wary of the devices of the devil so that they are not trapped in evil covenants. In particular, words are very vital for forming a covenant; there is a powerful connection between words and covenant, whether silent or loud, verbal or written. That is why every believer must be careful of what he or she speaks or discusses with his or her mouth.

PROPHETIC WORD:
All your past covenants with death shall be annulled.

 

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1 I break every covenant of demotion over my life, in the name of Jesus.

2 Conscious and unconscious covenants of the enemy will not prevail over my life, in the name of Jesus.

3 Any covenant I have made with death is hereby annulled, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4 Every covenant of familiar spirit in my life, break, in the name of Jesus.

5 Covenant, bringing flood of evil into my life, dry up now, in the name of Jesus.

6 Every satanic covenant against my future, scatter, in the name of Jesus.

7 Fire of the Holy Ghost, break all witchcraft covenant delaying my breakthrough, in the name of Jesus.
