MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 20TH JUNE 2022

Iniquity literally means “not just.” The word “iniquity” can also be used to say that something lacks moral or spiritual principles. As found in the Bible, iniquity is defined as being wicked or immoral in nature or character.

Primarily, it indicates not an action, but the character of an action, and is so distinguished from sin. Psalm 32:5 says, “I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.” Iniquity is the act of committing wilful sin against God. It is what exists in man that gives him the tendency to sin. It involves the attitudes of the heart.

The Bible specifically identifies the following iniquities: bitterness (Acts 8:23), greed (Acts 8:18–23), lust (Job 31:1–12), and stubbornness (I Samuel 15:23).

When we do things in our own will, leaving the will of God aside, even if that will of ours is good, it is iniquity. That a thing is good does not automatically make it right. Our Lord Jesus explained this in Matthew 7:21–23. Can iniquity be overcome? Yes, it can. Psalm 119:1–3 declares that when we walk in God’s ways, we do no iniquity: “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

OUR DAILY BREAD DEVOTIONAL FOR MONDAY 20TH JUNE 2022

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.” To overcome iniquity, you should also seek to live a Spirit-filled life. Another important step is to access and dwell in God’s secret place. In addition, you should pray always (the prayer of mercy, grace and protection from temptations).

Fill your life with the bread of life by reading and studying your Bible. Guard your heart with all diligence. Put God first in all decisions. Operate every day in the consciousness of heaven.

Finally, I would like you to always remember that iniquity is an arch-enemy of answered prayer. David said, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18).
