GOODNEWS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY 25TH JANUARY 2021
In today’s scripture, Apostle Paul used the word philodonos — which means “lovers of pleasure” — he was emphatically declaring that people in the last days will be obsessed with pleasure.
It is unfortunate to note that even Christians in these perilous times, are often obsessed with comfort and pleasure, to such an extent that they don’t want to be asked to do anything that would inconvenience them. To even invite certain people to a Church program is easier said than done.
Pastors are now afraid to warn their congregants of their reckless living because no one likes correction and they risk losing a member. Be careful that you will become completely consumed with yourself and your own happiness that it drives you straight into the enemy’s hands.
Feelings are fleeting which is why God puts more emphasis on obedience than your pleasures. Soon, everything in this world will pass away, and only those things that were done for Jesus will remain. Examine your heart to determine your real spiritual condition. If there are areas that need work, ask the Holy Spirit to correct those areas as you grow more in the word.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I choose to obey God and stay rooted in His word. The pleasures of this world are not my portion, my true treasures are being laid up in heaven where they will never fade, Praise God!
