TOPIC OF DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL FOR 10TH NOVEMBER 2019 IS “PRAYING ALRIGHT”
Text: Matthew 20:17-28

And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY
No parent, no matter how loving and caring, will grant all the requests and desires a child may ask. The issue here is not in the willingness to grant such request or the ability to do what is being asked for, but the fact that consenting to such request may not be for the ultimate good of the child. While God has promised and is able to do all things for us, there are some requests that will never be answered by God.
One of such requests is that made by the mother of James and John in our text. This, of course, was carnal, selfish and ambitious. They were not concerned with what was uppermost in the heart of Christ at this time, which He had just shared with them, namely His death on the cross, but were rather nursing selfish ambitions.

Volumes of prayers rise every day from different assemblies but sadly, many of them go unanswered. God will not answer prayers that are meant to satisfy our selfish inclinations and ambitions. Prayers that do not have the will of God as the main motive will not be answered. This, of course, does not have anything to do with God’s ability nor His faithfulness. Rather, it hinges on God’s principles – His written word.

For our prayers to be answered, such prayers must be according to the will and for the glory of God. God’s word assures us that all prayers made in line with His word are sure to receive answers from Him. As you pray today and always, make sure it is according to God’s word and you can be sure that the answer will definitely come.
