ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 8TH JANUARY 2021.

In our reading yesterday, we remember Jesus’ response to His parents when they met Him at the temple. Verse 51 of our text today says that Jesus went down with His parents to Nazareth and was subject to them. Though Jesus knew He came from God and had a relationship with Him, yet He went with His parents to Nazareth and was obedient to them.

Some Christian leaders regard themselves so highly that they no longer respect their elder siblings in the families, while some no longer honour their parents. This is wrong. Your relationship with God should make you treat your spouse and other family members with respect and honour as befitting a child of God (Romans 12:16).

Verse 52 tells us that Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and men. Though Jesus is God, He took human form and came into the world. As He obeyed and served His parents, He grew in wisdom, stature and favour with God and men. As a child of God, if you respect your elders, honour your parents and live in obedience to the Word of God, you will certainly grow in wisdom, and favour with God and men.

Loving God and His work, and obedience to Him word attracts favour with God and men. Decide to obey God this year and respect all people, and you will see God’s favour God bestowed on you. Read Psalm 75:6, 7.

PRAYER: Great Father of glory, please help me to obey and respect everybody I come in contact with and let Your favour manifest in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
